Registry-Asylum Sells .TEL’s
Ultracom Inc ensured that their Internet Services Division were ready to accept the new .TEL domain registrations as soon as TelNic released their domains for (GA) General Availability on March 24th.
There were many applications submitted to TelNic during the Frbruary ‘Sunrise’ period which failed, and according to Martin Sansone, known as TheDonSansone for his consultancy role in the organisation, he expressed his frustration in the rush of the release to General Availability as happening too soon! purely and simply because the checking and validation of brand names, key names and trademarks had been squeezed into too short of a time frame and many of the domains which failed the validation process, had been “left In Limbo” and not released for GA. So, it appears that quite a few domains have not been assigned to bidders; registered owners; nor the general puplic via domain registries.
These domains are just sitting there! TelNic are not keen on giving any details to when they would be released, stating that if a domain validation failed, then there was an appeals procedure, but even the time given to the appeals procedure has ended and yet the validators have not signed off on the domains, hence TelNic do not want to release the domains either!! What a situation, frustrating for many in the industry… and unless TelNic explain a fair procedure to how they are going to announce in advance when the block release of the “left over” domains will be released, there’s many insiders speculating as to whether some sort of behind the scenes hand shaking is going on!
It is rumoured that some of the most fancied domains bid on in the early pre-release went for large sums of money – money which has rightfully been paid to TelNic. Yet the domains which got caught up in the system could quite easily land in the lap of folk who were totally not aware of the launch as its suggested that the many applications intially left over for such domains have quite possibly been erased from the queing system that was running behind for hours after the intial rush! The winners of sites such as fitters.tel or installers.tel could conceivably provide valuable links and contact details to every contract fitter or installer in the world. Perfect for quickly locating a list of contrators near to wherever you live!
