The three main types of drug test are urine tests, oral tests and hair tests, each drug test tells us a different thing; hair tests show if drugs have been in the system over months, urine tests show the use of drugs over days and saliva tests show if drugs have been used within hours.
There are lots of types of home kits for testing drugs available to purchase; there are single cassette urine tests, which are often used as a test for cocaine, to test for cannabis and opiate testing etc. There are test cups which test for many variations of drugs in one go, there are saliva sample tests which also tests for lots of varieties of drug. There are also hair tests which can test for many of drugs, unfortunately these are very pricey and they cant be undertaken at home.
What can you do if you think someone you know has taken drugs?
First of all it is probably best to have a sit down with them and talk to them about it, stay cool and make it clear that you are anxious about their health. If the person denies taking drugs but you still have a strong belief that they are, request that they conform to a drugs test to verify they aren’t on drugs. Unfortunately, if they have taken drugs they are less likely to do it willingly and unfortunately all these tests depend upon the person’s cooperation. In this situation it is recommended to speak to an expert.
